We received our French Correspondant's information today. Each of us was arbitrarily matched up with a French university student from "la fac" (la faculté, it means 'college' in French in the same way that large universities like OU have the Honor Tutorial College or a College of Business).
Mine's name is Farah Hamzi and, according to the relatively useless information that we've been provided with, she's interested in "musique, cinéma, et lecture" (music, cinema, reading). So, pretty much as vague as my letter to my host family. More interesting is her e-mail address of which the screen name part is "deadgirlslovebrainjuice." Yeah, I have no idea either. Hopefully someday she will be able to explain it to me.
Anyways, I've sent her an email, so hopefully we actually correspond before I leave. I'd really like to have a friend in Avignon before I get there, not that having Mike nearby isn't already an amazing nerve-reducer.
Oh, and also today, I went to get money out of the ATM after a lovely coffee date with one Laura Rossi and saw that my account was $60 less than yesterday. Therefore, the French Embassy has cashed my check for my Campus France registration. Hopefully that means that I'll be getting my registration email soon. Then I'll be all set—I believe—to go get my visa in Chicago.
Well, that's all I have for today's France update. Now, I'm off to dinner with the girls.
